MeW 2010 – DEBATE - ROLE OF DEBATERS

ARGUMENT SESSIONS

Prime Minister (PM)

1) The first proposer should give definition for the proposal that‘s going to be debated, in affirmative aspect.

2) The first proposer should state his/her standpoint clearly.

3) At least, the first proposer should gives three arguments (evidences/explanation) to support the proposal.

Leader of Opposition(LO)

1) The first opponent should give definition for the given proposal, in negative aspect.

2) The first opponent should give his/her standpoint on this proposal.

3) The first opponent should protest/object/refuse the PM’s arguments (not elaborate or giving example on it)

4) The first opponent also should give at least three arguments to oppose the proposal that’s being debated.

First Member of Government(1st MG)

1) The second proposer should approve the PM‘s standpoint.

2) The second proposer should rebut/deny/criticize the LO’s points.

3) The second proposer should give at least two arguments (other than PM’s arguments) to support the proposal that’s being debated.

First Member of Opposition(1st MO)

1) The second opponent should approve the LO’s standpoint.

2) The second opponent should protest/object/refuse/disprove the 1st MG’s arguments & PM’s arguments respectively.

3) The second opponent should give at least two arguments to deny the given proposal.



Second Member of Government (2nd MG)

1) The third proposer should state again the proposition team’s standpoint.

2) The third proposer should rebut/deny/criticize the 1st MO’s arguments& LO’s arguments respectively.


Second Member of Opposition (2nd MO)

1) The third opponent should state again the opposition side’s standpoint.

2) The third opponent should protest/object/refuse/disprove the 2nd  MG’s arguments, 1st MG’s arguments & PM’s arguments respectively.


RESOLUTION SESSION

1) The debaters should resolve all of the arguments those supporting (on proposition side) or those opposing (on opposition side) the proposal that have been debated all along.

2) The debaters are not allowed to add any new argument in this session.

3) The debaters are not allowed to criticize against their opponents in resolution session.

4) Any excuse/exception (POI) is not allowed in this session.
